Basic Admission Criteria
The student’s secondary school record and national examination results will be the most important admission credentials required for admission for Undergraduate level. Basic guideline on minimum entry requirements is as summarized below.
A candidate must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements;
Either
- Be a holder of a Bachelor‘s degree with at least Upper Second Class honors in any discipline or its equivalent from an institution recognized by the University Senate.
Or
- Be a holder of a Bachelor‘s degree with Lower Second Class honors in any discipline provided the candidate can show proven evidence of research ability or three (3) years relevant experience in a relevant field.
Or
- Be a holder of a Bachelor‘s degree at pass level in any discipline from a recognized University with five (5) years post qualification If less than five (5) years, the holder must have a Post Graduate Diploma with Credit in a relevant field from Kenya National Examinations Council and any other institution recognized by the University Senate.
Or
- Be a holder of a Higher National Diploma with Credit pass with two (2) years‘ experience in a relevant field may be admitted into the Master‘s degree programme provided that such candidates pass the required units.
Or
- Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.00, or a degree awarded with First Class or an Upper Second Class Honours. Those whose GPA is 2.5 or who have Lower Second Class Honours and Higher Diploma with relevant experience may be considered if the degree or diploma is relevant to the field of study.
- KCSE C+ and above
- Diploma level certificate from a recognized Institution
- IGCSE 5 Upper Level passes
- GCE 5 ‘O’ level passes with C and above or principal C at A level
- 12th Grade GPA of 2.5
- KCSE C plain and C-
- Certificate from a recognized Institution
- KCSE D+ and above
Application forms to the degree programme are available from the Admissions Office at a no chargeable fee for both Local and Foreign Applicants.
Completed application forms should be returned with the following attachments:
- Relevant result slip
- School leaving certificate
- 2 letters of reference one of which should be from the Headteacher/ Principal of the high school attended
- 3 recent passport sized photographs
Students from countries which do not sit any of the above examinations and have completed secondary school will be required to sit a special qualifying examination. There are specific requirements for each of the programmes on offer.

- Have obtained a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE. In addition, she must have passed with a grade C (C Plain) in Mathematics and English;
- Have a minimum of two principal passes one of which must be Mathematics at Advanced Level Certificate from a recognised institution;
- Have a diploma in relevant subjects with at least a credit pass from an institution recognised by the university;
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 after undertaking Pre-University programme from a recognised institution;
- Have any relevant qualification equivalent to the above four. Student who have met the university entry requirement but have not met the minimal departmental requirement of a grade C (C Plain) in Mathematics and English will be required to undertake a one semester bridging course in the relevant subject.
- Have obtained a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE. Further, the candidate must have passed with a minimum grade of C (C Plain) in Mathematics and English;
- Applicant must have covered Physics or Physical Science in Secondary School;
- A minimum of two Principal Passes one of which must be Mathematics at Advanced Level Certificate from a recognised institution;
- Have a diploma in relevant subjects with at least a credit pass from an institution recognised by the university;
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 after undertaking Pre-University programme from a recognised institution;
- Have any relevant qualification equivalent to the above.
- Have obtained a minimum mean grade of C+ (C Plus) in KCSE. In addition, the candidate must have passed with a minimum grade of C (C Plain) in Mathematics and English;
- Have a diploma in relevant subjects with at least a credit pass from an institution recognised by the university;
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 after undertaking Pre-University programme from a recognised institution;
- Have any relevant qualification equivalent to the above.
- KCSE mean grade C- (C Minus);
- C- (C Minus) in Mathematics, English/Kiswahili;
- Students who have done a certificate course in a computer/telecommunications engineering related field will be considered for admission after review of their transcripts;
- ‘A’ level leavers in any Science cluster subjects; mid-career practitioners;
- Considerable work experience in Information Technology or Telecommunications industry will be considered.
- Have obtained a minimum mean grade of C- (C Minus) in KCSE, or
- Have KCE Division II, or
- Have a certificate in Business Administration from a reputable and recognised institution with a credit level pass
- Applicants wishing to obtain specialised knowledge and skills in Business Administration must have a degree
