On behalf of the University Management Board, University Senate, Staff and students of the entire KWUST fraternity, I take this opportunity to welcome you to KWUST, a fully-fledged chartered University.

Founded in May 2002, Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology is a premier and first women’s University in East and Central Africa, situated in Githurai – Mwihoko in Githurai Sub-County, Kiambu County, off the Nairobi-Thika Super-Highway.

The University is devoted to implementing its core mandate and unique focus of empowering women as embellished in our vision and mission. Being a women’s only University it endeavors to help women/girls achieve their dreams despite being marginalized in the recent past so that they become responsible members of society. This is in the realization of the adage “If you educate a woman you educate a family (nation).”

As a University, we promise to maintain and continuously set higher goals aimed at achieving financial stability while increasing diversity and student admission. The provision and delivery of effective and efficient teaching, learning, research and innovation have been our guiding principle. KWUST shall continue to excel in offering its core mandate not only as an essential component in generating knowledge that goes beyond personal experience but also as a benefit of employment and enhanced economic activity for the country and the world at large.

The University will remain committed to adopting and strengthening quality tools and benchmarking in its academic programmes and endeavor to redefine and review them over time to ensure quality and relevance of the programmes in meeting society’s ever-emerging needs.

KWUST has taken the lead in the creation and growth of opportunities for higher education as well as in research and innovation support for creative strategies for the advancement of humanity. The University upholds the core values of integrity, responsiveness, patriotism, respect, excellence, honesty, fairness, transparency, accountability and efficiency in carrying out its mandate. In an effort to bring this vision to life, KWUST has created a strategic plan that outlines its precise strategic orientations by placing a sharp focus on prioritized objectives and the particular tactics required to attain them.

As a University, we endeavor to deliver a wide range of market-oriented courses that reinforce academic programmes in order to produce people with the skills required by the global market. The programmes include Mathematics (Actuarial Science, Statistics, Pure and Applied Mathematics), Computer Science and ICT, Business Information Technology, Education, Business Administration (with specialization in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Procurement and Supplies, Human Resource Management and International Business Management), Hospitality Management, Community Development and Social work among others. The University is committed to rolling out newer academic programmes based on need assessment analysis.
