Message from the Head of Department
Dr. Henry Kegoro holds a PhD degree in Business Administration (Marketing Management) as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Marketing Management) both from the University of Nairobi. Equally, He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing Management) from Maseno University. Dr. Henry Kegoro is a certified Virtuality Reality Technology Scholar from Ningbo Polytechnique in China. He is a certified TOT Trainer, Digital Marketer and Brand Architect as well as a certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Paragon. Further, He is a Member of various Professional Bodies such as the Global Society of Researchers, Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK), Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and Member of Association of African Universities (AAU)
It is our pleasure to introduce you to Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology (KWUST) which is a fully-fledged chartered university of its kind in Africa and beyond committed to scholarly excellence. The School of Business Management has made significant strides since the inception of the university in 2002. Apart from the Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Education, the School of Business and Management constitutes two departments namely; the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Accounting and Finance. The school of business management not only remains a magnet for attracting local students but also to students from African countries such as Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, South Sudan, Mozambique and Botswana.
The School of Business and Management is committed in offering market driven academic programs geared towards Kenya’s Vision 2030 as well as the Millennial Development Goals as articulated in the United Nations Conventions. The academic programmes are not only tailored to make students appreciate scientific knowledge but also ignite their creativity and innovation skills. All academic programmes are geared towards equipping students with exceptional skills and knowledge to fit in an industrialized and globalized economy.
The School of Business Management is dedicated to re-inventing service delivery models to provoke student intellectual insights. New academic programs developed by the School of Business and Management aim to bridge the knowledge gaps in the competitive labour market. The School of Business and Management has made significant milestones by establishing student-centric models of learning. Students are allowed to demonstrate their capabilities as well as talents through self-discovery of knowledge. “Student Research” is the philosophy of the School of Business and Management.
The School of Business and Management is committed as well as constituted of highly experienced members of the academic staff to nurture student talents in different fields of specialization ranging from Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Marketing, Hospitality, International Business Management and Finance and Banking. All these programmes are embedded in the Commission for University Education guidelines. The Lecturers in the School of Business and Management are dedicated to lean thinking approaches as well as model student personalities through interactive teaching approaches. Equally, administrators in the School of Business and Management are professional extroverts with a mix of skills, knowledge and experience to provide excellent student services.
Cyclic model of student academic progression is considered to be the driver of student delight culture. The School of Business and Management is looking forward to launching a Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration. Other academic programs offered by the schools are not limited to Master of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Community Development and Social Work, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Procurement and Supply Chain Management and Bachelor of Finance and Economics. The University has foresight to provide a blended mode of study to students for all these programmes to attract more local and international students.
The university provides the students with opportunities of participating in academic and leadership forums as well as in extra-curricular activities. Considering the fact that student issues are given first priority by the School of Business and Management, student unions are highly valued by the university management. The School of Business and Management has consistently produced graduates who are fully equipped with relevant skills and knowledge to fit in a globalized economy. Graduates from the School of Business and Management are not only favoured by blue chip organizations locally but also by global organizations.
