Message from the Head of Department
Welcome to Department of Business Information Technology of Kiriri Women’s University of Science and Technology (KWUST). Business Information Technology at KWUST is designed to meet the increasing demand in the market place for Business Information Technology professionals with a wide knowledge of business management, technical skills and the capacity to harness and implement IT strategies taking advantage of emerging technologies. With the fast-growing modernization and integration of technology into businesses, every sector needs people who can help them build bridges between IT and business, and innovate businesses using IT resources.
The Department of Business Information Technology currrently offers two programmes; Diploma in Business Information Technology (DBT) and Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT). Other programmes are in the process, awaiting approval by Commission of University Education. A course in Business information Technology (BIT) at KWUST is designed to equip students with the expertise required in the development and use of computer systems in solving business problems and making managerial decisions. As a business information technologist student at KWUST, you will possess the skills required to communicate and discuss with colleagues and other external experts such as IT, marketing and financial specialists. BBIT graduates are marketable in the below fields among others

The department is serviced by highly qualified and competent academic staff who are fully committed to service delivery to our esteemed learners. Our courses are practical in nature through the help of both course lecturer, well equiped computer laboratories and competent laboratory technicians assigned to each of the laboratories. Our learners have to undergo the mandatory four months Industrial Attachment through our Industrial attachment office which is the custodian of university relations with industrial linkages. Recent feedback from the industry and the market at large indicates that our graduates are well equipped with relevant skills for the job market and are very competitive with their peers in the market.
