It is my pleasure to introduce you to the KWUST Department of Mathematics. KWUST is a full-fledged chartered university committed to scholarly excellence in Africa and beyond. The department offers the following programmes:

  1. Master of Science in Applied Statistics and Data Analytics
  2. Bachelor of Science in Mathematics
  3. Diploma in Mathematics

The mission of the department is to generate, transmit, preserve quality knowledge by promoting independent and interactive learning with scientific inquiry in a culture striving for diverse national and global development in pure and applied research in sciences, while seeking to integrate these perspectives.

The Department of Mathematics is committed to offering market-driven academic programmes geared towards Kenya’s Vision 2030 as well as the Millennial Development Goals as articulated in the United Nations Conventions. The academic programmes focus on developing innovative solutions to real-life problems. Our courses are industry-focused for graduate satisfaction. To ensure that graduates are produced to meet the market demands and expectations, the department has partnered with several institutions to which the learners get attached. This helps the learners to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The department has continued to produce outstanding scholars, researchers and specialists, who contribute immensely to the development and well-being of humanity and the country at large.

The evolution of knowledge and skills through technology is more rapid than ever before. To embrace this, the department has incorporated various courses in Computer Science and Information Technology to equip students with sufficient skills to meet the demands of the industry and the market.

Bachelor of Science graduates are marketable in various institutions including Research Institutes and hospitals, Financial Organizations, Insurance Companies, Non-Governmental Organizations, Mathematics Lecturer, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Actuary and Computer Programmer.

The department has highly qualified and competent academic staff members including Professors and Ph.D. holders who are committed to the dissemination of knowledge and skills not only academically but also to the general well-being of the learners.
